SINGLE TEMP VARIOTHERM TEMPERATURE CONTROL
ATT - ALTERNATING TEMPERATURE TECHNOLOGY
HIGH-SPEED HEATING & COOLING FOR ADVANCED MOLD TEMPERATURE CONTROL
Single Temp Variotherm Temperature Control systems are advanced, engineered temperature control solutions capable of actively changing mold surface temperature throughout the production cycle in plastic injection molding and other mold-based manufacturing processes. Operating on the Alternating Temperature Technology (ATT) principle, these systems enable different temperature profiles during mold filling, packing, and cooling phases, effectively eliminating the limitations of conventional temperature control methods.
Variotherm technology provides a critical process advantage in applications requiring high surface quality, weld-line-free parts, low internal stress, and short cycle times.
OPERATING PRINCIPLE OF THE VARIOTHERM (ATT) SYSTEM
Single Temp ATT systems feature a structure that uses two separate temperature circuits (hot and cold) within the same mold, alternately activated via hydraulic switching.
The system operates as follows:
• During injection and filling, the mold surface is maintained at a high temperature
• Melt flowability is increased, minimizing weld lines and surface defects
• After the packing phase, the system automatically switches to the cold circuit
• The mold is rapidly cooled and the cycle is completed
These transitions are executed fully automatically, synchronized with the molding process, and without any need for manual intervention.
Thanks to ATT technology, temperature differences exceeding 100 °C can be generated inside the mold within very short time intervals.
ADVANTAGES OF ATT - ALTERNATING TEMPERATURE TECHNOLOGY
Compared to conventional temperature control units, Single Temp Variotherm systems offer numerous process advantages:
• Eliminates weld line formation
• Delivers high-gloss and piano-black surface quality
• Reduces internal flow resistance inside the mold
• Requires lower injection pressure and clamping force
• Minimizes internal stresses, improving part stability
• Enhances quality in thick-walled and optical components
• Increases production efficiency through shorter cycle times
These advantages make Variotherm systems indispensable for high value-added plastic part production.
